Friend of God: Jesus pleads for His Friend

LORD, you have searched me and known me! You know when I sit down and when I rise up; discerning my thoughts from afar. You searched out my path and my lying down, and you are acquainted with all my ways. For you formed my inward parts, knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you for you are fearful and wonderful. Wonderful are your works! You know me right well (Psalms 139: 1 - 3, 13 - 14).

As in us thou hast been sanctified before them, so in them be thou magnified before us; and let them know thee, as we have known that there is not God but thee, O Lord (Sirach 36:4-5).

Make me to know your ways, O LORD; teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth, and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long. (Psalms 25: 4-5)

My Jesus, how good it is to love you! Let me be like your disciples on Mount Tabor, seeing nothing else but you, my Savior. Let us be as two friends, neither of whom can bear to offend the other. Amen. (St. John Vianney)
